I have travelled widely across the world, mainly in search of birds and mammals. To date my world bird list (Clements) is 5020. I have collected water beetles along the way including several species new to science, and several important range extensions amongst the Australasian fauna.

Ochthebius queenslandicus (Australia) described by Hansen, 1998.
My longest trip was 3 months in Southern South America which I described in my travelogue. It was an amusing and ultimately very scarey trip, with one of the more bizarre coincidences you will ever read about!! Hope you enjoy reading about it as much as I enjoyed writing it….
